ALA 171 allowed me to gain a better focus on what I would like my future to be. It really made me think about my goals and how I will get there.
This class helped me prepare for the professional world and to open up to others.
This experience was one that I will greatly value and I highly recommend it to any freshman. This class helped me sort through my identities and make me make sense to myself.
Not only did our facilitator introduce us to new concepts that are helpful in the professional sphere, but he also let us in on his life experiences, allowing us to better relate to him, and better cope with our new college experiences. If given the chance to take this class again, I definitely would!
Through this class I was able to learn exactly who I am and what I want to accomplish at Michigan.

This class taught me about ways that I can engage with my community at Michigan. From the learning between classes and learning about opportunities like Bursley/Northwood student councils and social media management.
This class taught me the tools to engage in social situations and using tricks learned in Change It Up.
This class was so special because we talked about things beyond the syllabus like race, ethnicity, and just life in general.
This class also helped me to get to know campus resources that I would of never known about.
This class allowed me to start thinking about things that I would not normally think about. It made me start questioning about what background and what my experiences mean to me and how they impact my life now.
I discovered what I want to do with my life while taking this class and largely because of this class.
I enjoyed going to class every week. My favorite part was just talking with my facilitator and my classmates.
I learned a lot about interacting with others and presenting myself well.
I met so many great people with whom I’ve forged great friendships.
It helped me meet new people as well as learn about new experiences and incorporating them into my own.
I learned about how others’ identities are important to recognize and understand.
As an out of state student it was difficult to find my niche at Michigan, but through this class I was able to bond with people of my hall.
I truly believe that I gained new friends as a result of this class, and I consider this to be much more valuable than anything else I have been taught so far at Michigan.
This class taught me how I can set goals for myself and gave me resources to achieve them.
I loved having the chance to make an MPortfolio. It will be very helpful in the long term and it helped me to get all of my goals and skills organized and it helped me to organize my thoughts on what I want to do in the future.
It was helpful to reflect upon my goals and my philosophy. This helped me figure out my future career and reflect upon what I really want to do in my future.
I really enjoyed this class and I feel like the skills that I developed are priceless.
