First Year Experience

  • FreshSpectives (Spectrum Center): FreshSpectives is a social group for LGBTQIA and similarly-identified first-year and transfer students to connect to community, support and resources.

  • Ready, Set, Intern! (University Career Center): The University Career Center will walk you through what employers look for in interns, help you set goals to be prepared to build your skills, and cover a few of the services we provide to help you understand what we can do to help you be the best candidate you can be!

  • Emerging Wolverines (University Career Center): The Emerging Wolverines Fall term groups occurs over a 5-week period for one hour a week. Emerging Wolverines will use MBTI theory and work in small groups, exploring how personality influences campus involvement and major/career choices.

  • First Ascent (Rec Sports): The First Ascent program provides incoming U‑M first-year students with an opportunity to connect with peers in small groups for camping, hiking, paddling and exploring the state’s natural areas. All trips are led by upperclassmen or grad students.

  • MLEAD Academy (ResEd): MLEAD Academy is a weeklong leadership experience for incoming and returning students living in University Housing.

  • Big Ten Voting Challenge (Ginsberg Center): The BIG TEN VOTING CHALLENGE aims to increase the number of eligible student voters across the country and encourage participation at the polls for all elections.

  • UMix Late Night (Center for Campus Involvement): UMix Late Night is a series of fun, free, late night activities and events for University of Michigan students between 9pm – 1am most Friday nights.

  • Living Well in College and Beyond (Wolverine Wellness): ALA 270: Living Well in College and Beyond is a  2-credit course that will focus on exploring the eight dimensions of personal well-being through a lens of positive psychology, motivation and social justice. Students will explore the ways that well-being is dynamic and interdependent.
